California Proposition 65

What is Prop 65?

It is an initiative statute that protects public health by reducing exposures to toxic chemicals. It requires businesses to provide clear and reasonable warnings prior to exposing consumers to certain toxic chemicals. These chemicals can be in the products that Californians purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment. By requiring that this information be provided, Proposition 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals.

What is this Warning?

This warning does not mean that Kevala products will necessarily cause cancer or reproductive harm. Furthermore, a Proposition 65 warning does not mean a product is in violation of any product-safety standards or requirements. To the contrary, the California government has clarified that “The fact that a product bears a Proposition 65 warning does not mean by itself that the product is unsafe.” The California government also explained, “You could think of Proposition 65 more as a ‘right to know’ law than a pure product safety law.” Visit: http://oehha.ca.gov/prop65/background/p65plain.html
